One of Antwerp’s most recent symbol, the Zaha Hadidplein, distinguished by the famous boat-shaped building that rises on top of the old Port Authority office. It’s a multifaceted shape, a multi mirror faces structure that makes a bridge between the two worlds of Antwerp: the port and the diamond buisness world.
Checkout the square, they do many festivals right below the big giant of glass. If you are lucky enough to be there in a sunny day you’ll be amazed by the reflection of this naval diamond.

This is the unique mirror-boat shaped building that quickly became the symbol of the port of Antwerp, designed by architecture Zaha Hadid that recently passed away in 2016. She was born in Iraq and later became British. She was the first woman to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize, which is like the Oscars for architecture. Also the first and last woman to have received the Royal Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects. This incredible lady that The Guardian described as the “Queen of the curves” (cit.), was a prolific artist as you can see from the list of other buildings she designed, like the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul or like the Riverside Museum in Glasgow.
