Antwerp is one of the cutest European cities for Xmas celebration. If it’s Christmas you cannot miss the Market in Grote Markt. The big Christmas tree, the shopping tents, the lights. Everything smells and tastes like Christmas during these days. Usually something is projected on the city hall building in the big square, there are events in the program that takes place every year. And look up, look at the Cathedral. Every balcony is lighted up.

Have a walk from Groenplaats up to Grote Markt and all the way down to Suikerrui and Steenplein: you’ll see the city literally lights up during this time of the year. And don’t miss the big ice-skating ring in Groenplaats, a good opportunity for you to show your ice-skating talent. Local products and handmade gift ideas are sold at the few shopping tents in between Groenplaats and Steeplein: Santa Claus’s hats, dresses, gloves, bags, candles, handmade toys, etc. Without mentioning the food. It’s not a real Antwerpse Xmas celebration if you haven’t eaten some Spekpatatjes, Oliebollen and Gluewijn.
